Donna Chambers FINE ART BIOGRAPHY: Donna J. Chambers Donna paints in pastels and oils. Pastels present a full spectrum of hues, lights and darks as well as the ability to produce a variety of textures and strokes with which to create interesting paintings. She has used these techniques to design and produce paintings with such diverse subjects as landscapes, animals and portraits. In addition, she teaches pastels in workshops,(past: Wylie and Irving, Tx) and current classes at Hobby Lobby and Michaels in McKinney, Tx.and soon at Michaels in Denton, Tx. Texas: Donna has been a member of the Pastel Society of the Southwest, in Dallas, Texas. Her pastels have been in Juried shows Texas in Richardson, 2017, Frisco Arts in the Atrium juried shows in 2017, 2018, 2019. ArtReach shows in Dallas, Tx ( Lovers Lane United Methodist Church). Her pastels have been installed at the Wylie Art Gallery, Wylie Tx. and at Filtered, (Art Gallery at Filtered) in the neighborhood coffee shop in McKinney, Tx. She demos frequently at Filtered, McKinney, Tx. In March 2016,"Clouds in a Pastel Sky" won a blue ribbon for the "Best use of a Medium", in the Collin County Art Show. Previously, her work has been displayed in juried shows at the following Indiana and Southwestern Michigan galleries: In Indiana: The South Bend Civic Theatre, Studio Arts, The New Galleries, The Bag Factory in Goshen, Indiana (Sycamore Arts). The Fort Wayne Museum of Modern Art hung "Irish Country" pastel, one of 25 paintings of various mediums chosen from Northern Indiana Artist Association membership. In Michigan: The Box Factory for the Arts where her pastels have hung in the Michiana Annual Art Competition (MAAC) juried shows several years. She was Artist of the Month at the Box Factory, and selected paintings were on display. Her one woman show was held at The Buchanan Art Center. Donna's art education includes classes at Monterey Peninsula College, Monterey, Cal. The Box Factory (St. Joseph, Mi.), Buchanan Art Center (Buchanan Michigan), Studio Arts, and the South Bend Museum of Art. (South Bend, Ind.). Donna has attended workshops with internationally known professional artists in pastels: Richard McDaniel,Allan Flattman and Alain Picard. She has been a student with Harry Ahn, an inter-nationally known and honored artist in oils. Her instructors have included, Bob Williams and Cathy McCormick for pastels. In Texas she continues to learn from other artists as often as she is able. She is a past member of The Northern Indiana Pastel Society, The Northern Indiana Artist Association, The Buchanan Art Center, and had a studio at The Box Factory for the Art for two years from September, 2013s and was a long time member of the Berrien Artist Guild. She moved to McKinney, Texas in the fall, 2015. Previously, Donna was a practicing psychologist and hypnotherapist in St. Joseph, Michigan. She feels that art is the window to the inter life of people. She has utilized art to help children and teens verbalize their emotions. "Art is a non-complex way to access the emotional life, and a creative expression of deep, inner emotions. It brings satisfaction and healing to those who utilize the creativity within themselves.
